Bank holidays are coming!

More sunny (but somewhat chilly) weather seems to have been the theme here lately. The northerly winds forecast for this week will probably keep temperatures low but fingers crossed we'll get some warm sunny weather for the 1st May bank holiday. We've had some big tides this weekend, more Hawks and Cruisers have launched and a few keen racers competed, despite the chill. Results for this weekend are on the website.

Next weekend we have no racing on Saturday. Races for dinghies, Hawks, Cockles and Juniors are planned for 3pm on Sunday and 4pm on Monday, there is no need to sign up in advance. Even if you never raced before, come to the clubhouse an hour before race start and chat to the safety boat teams.

Friday 28th April: We are hosting our Murder Mystery evening from 6pm
Saturday 29th April: Lunch will be available from 12:00 until 15:00 and dinner from 18:00 until 21:00.
Sunday 30th April: Cruiser Launching lunch at 1:30. The kitchen will also be open for la carte lunch from 12:00 until 15:00 and dinner from 18:00 until 21:00.
Monday 1st May: Lunch will be available from 12:00 until 15:00 and the bar will be open after racing.

Coronation Weekend

Friday 5th May: The bar will be open from 5pm and kitchen for a la carte dinner from 6pm until 9pm.

Saturday 6th May - Coronation Day:
We have racing at 7:30am for Handicap and Hawk fleets with Breakfast at 9am when we will also show live broadcasting of the Coronation procession as it builds to the main event in Westminster Abbey at 11am. Lunch will be available from 12 noon until 3pm and then dinner from 6pm until 9pm. The bar will remain open until 11pm if anyone would like to come for drinks after the beacon lighting on Barrow Common.

Sunday 7th May:
Races are scheduled for Hawk and Handicap fleets at 7:45am. Breakfast will be available from 9:15am, lunch from 12 noon until 3pm. The Commodore's Drinks and New Members evening is by invitation and replaces our usual dinner service.

Monday 8th May:
Racing for the Handicap fleet begins at 07:45. Breakfast is available from 9:15am and lunch from 12 noon until 3pm. From 2pm we invite everyone to join "The Big Help" a litter pick along the coastal path. Bags and litter grabbers are available, we recommend you bring some stout gloves. Tea and cake will be offered in the clubhouse from 3pm for volunteers. We welcome all baked donations from scones, to cup cakes, granola bars, shortbread and fancy cakes.

How to get involved:
We'd love to hear from you if you are able to assist with our Coronation weekend events. If you don't feel able to jump in and out of a safety boat, this is a great way to get involved with activities in the club.

  • If you live near King's Lynn (or will be passing through) and would be able to collect our litter pick kits from the council depot on Hardwick Industrial Estate on Friday 5th, we'd be very grateful.
  • If you'd like to lead our litter pick on Monday 8th, we are looking for a few people who can direct others where to go, hand out bags, and help direct people with full bags.
  • We had a spectacular response to our call for bakers last year at the Jubilee tea party. This year, we'd like to give tea and cakes to volunteer litter pickers, we love you to join our volunteer baking team for this event.
To get sign up for any of the roles above, please email the_clubhouse@bssc.net or call 07747 597902

Below is the updated menu for May, look out for the "Coronation Specials" on the board. There will also be sweet and savoury bar snacks available all day. If you have any questions regarding special dietary requirements please do ask us when ordering your food.

As always, we recommend reserving a table in advance by email especially for large groups.

We do hope to see you all soon.
