Start Racing

This course takes you through the fundamentals of getting off the start line and round the course.

Assumed knowledge: successful completion of Stage 3 and more importantly, further sailing experience. Please be prepared to show evidence of experience in log books, if requested.

Recommended minimum age: 11 years as of the course start date.

Course Duration: 3 days (Monday to Wednesday inclusive)

Boat: You must provide your own topper, in good working order. Boat checks will be conducted before the course begins. You will not be allowed to sail if your topper is not in satisfactory condition (please refer to the topper preparation guide on the course information page).

Course content: all the skills required to start club racing, including how to maximise boat speed and outwit your opponents.

Ability after course: able to take part in club racing in good conditions.

Children may apply to do either Start Racing OR Improve Your Racing but not both.
