Winter has arrived!
We woke up to blue skies, sunshine and temperatures close to freezing. Last week's charity bridge tournament, which has been organised by Liz How for the past few years was held in the clubhouse on Tuesday. The event raised a very impressive £2045 for Tapping House Norfolk Hospice. Many thanks to everyone who removed their boats from the dinghy park so promptly this year. We really do appreciate your attention

Mussels & Macon
Twenty four hardy souls arrived in Brancaster Staithe with their Wayfairers last Friday to commemorate the start of Ralph Feinnes trip to the South Pole on 9th November 1992. They enjoyed a social supper on Saturday night and (you can just make them out in this week's photo) sailing on Saturday and Sunday. Next Saturday will be the last dinner service until 21st December and the menu will focus on

Boats!
Our club AGM took place on Saturday and confirmed the transition from our outgoing Commodore Ben Stocks to our new Commodore Sarah Kemp. We would like to welcome James Watson to the post of Vice Commodore and Richard Turner has joined the general committee. Many thanks to Malcolm Collins for his 49 years of service on the general committee. We've had more dry and mild weather this week. As you

Laying up weekend
We've had a fantastic weekend of sunshine, laying up lunches and prize giving - for dinghy fleets on Saturday and the Cruiser fleet on Sunday. Congratulations to all who won trophies. Bringing in the buoys Whilst the weather is dry and mild, our amazing volunteers have been bringing in buoys and readying

Opening times October & November
Another weekend of very high and very early tides. It appears that rigging in the dark and drizzle isn't so popular, but it is worth the effort just to say that you have launched and recovered your dingy from the sailing club car park! Just don't park your car next to your launching trolly... Well done Harry Spink for winning the Trafalgar trophy and John & Gilly Ellison for the

Autumn is definitely here
Autumn is definitely here and not many boats out this weekend probably due to a miserable forecast and not much water in the harbour on Saturday. We did get little more water under us and less falling on our heads on Sunday though. A total of four Hawks ventured out and John and Gilly Ellison again showed speed and determination to win on both days. With one more weekend left the

End of Season Club events
With lighter winds than predicted, those sailors that got up in the dark enjoyed some stunning early morning autumnal sailing. On Saturday John and Gilly Ellison led the way home for the Hawks then on Sunday, following a strong tide that saw most of the fleet washed over the start line and a frustrating general recall, line honours went to Jonathan and Sally Groome. But with

Private Events
There was a good turnout from the Lasers on Saturday for the 2nd Autumn points and varied Hawk racing throughout this weekend. With light winds on Saturday suiting team Odell, others became frustrated by the tide. Fortunately, spirits were revived with a fabulous Hawk Autumn Dinner in the clubhouse! All of this reversed on Sunday afternoon, with strong winds, team McIrvine came out on top. Four different winners of the four

Great racing last weekend
The idea of the mini regatta was to encourage racing in the traditionally quieter months. 9 hawks and 12 allcomers took part over the weekend with results (and prizes) broken out for hawks, dominant fleet, allcomers and junior Toppers. A force 2-3 kicked in and stayed for the weekend. The tides were huge giving the Race officers Matt and Karen Godbold plenty of challenges (including a dragging start line). 2 decent

Mini Summer, Mini Regatta
If you were in Brancaster this weekend, you couldn't fail to notice Shanty Fest! We had so much fun, with four stellar groups performing in the clubhouse on Saturday and Sunday. Our local group "Nelson's Shantymen" rounded off the weekend with a fantastic set list including their beautiful ballad Overy Strand. Meanwhile, out on the water, low tides

Autumn is here
The local Sharpie sailors met on Saturday with very still, grey conditions. Many thanks to Race Officer Paddy Spink for this beautiful photo. The wind did pick up on Sunday morning and the fleet completed four races over two days. Congratulations to Will Ellison and Tom Godwin for winning the Las Dye trophy! Next weekend's racing will be
