    So much wind!

Whilst the sun was shining, the bitterly cold north wind continued to freeze us all this weekend. The chilly conditions are forecast to prevail for another week. Hopefully, the wind conditions will improve sufficiently to allow racing to resume next weekend for Hawks, Cockles and dinghy handicap. The Cruiser fleet will meet for a social lunch on Sunday 28th, please let us know by email if you would

    Spring Season is here

We had some lovely, sunny and breezy conditions for racing this weekend. Results for The Captains Cup and Spring series are available to view on the website . We also had a good turnout for the Grand National on Saturday afternoon. There is no racing scheduled next weekend due to later tide times. Racing for Hawk and handicap fleets resumes the following weekend (27th & 28th April). We also

    Back to racing

The very mixed weather last week didn't deter our intrepid young Dinghy Instructor Candidates who all passed their course on Friday afternoon. Many thanks to Jemma for the photos - available to view on our Facebook page. Unfortunately, storm Kathleen put paid to our plans for on the water 2000 fleet training. We still had a

    New Dinghy Park Layout

It has been agreed by the Sailing Committee and General Committee that changes will be made to the Dinghy Park and Car Parking areas. We understand that nobody likes change so far as possible, we have tried to avoid moving any boats unnecessarily and appreciate your cooperation with this ongoing project. We will always face the problem that demand for parking spaces outstrips the number of spaces available. As such,

    What a turnout :)

The turnout over the Easter weekend far exceeded all of our expectations and has made us extremely excited about the summer season to come. The weather did indeed provide a mixed bag of wind, sun and rain. Fortunately the rain held off for our litter pick on Friday morning. The dinghy parks, main road verges and common lane are now litter free and we really appreciate the efforts of all

    Join us the Easter Weekend

We have so many activities both on and off the water planned for next weekend, we really hope you will be able to join us. We've had a real mix of weather last week - sometimes mild and sunny, sometimes cold and windy. So whatever you decide to have a go at, do bring plenty of layers. We kick start the racing this year with a series of 3 "First

    Sailing Again :)

Even though the weather continues to be very changeable, twelve visiting Wayfarers could be seen in the harbour on Saturday and Sunday morning. Some of these hardy folk travelled from as far afield and Taunton to sail here at Brancaster Staithe. I can't say, I blame them, conditions on Saturday were a lively southerly wind with sunshine and a more sedate westerly on Sunday. The application process for sail Training

The sun is shining again :)

After what felt like days of pouring rain, the sun finally came out on Friday and we've had some glorious sunshine. We found ourselves on the receiving end of strong wind and rain overnight, which was a shame because if you look closely at this week's photo, you can just see that the dinghy park fence has been repaired and Ronsealed (other brands are available). The exterior work continues

Count down to the 1st sailing event of 2024

Don't let this week's photo fool you - it's been very wet here! Yesterday morning an exceptional team assembled in the pouring rain to rebuild the sea defence at the north end of the dingy park. A huge thanks to Bill, Bruce, Stephen, Annalisa, Brian, Fi, the Wakefield family, you are all volunteer heroes, for turning up and working so hard in such hideous weather. Not only that, more volunteers

Spring sunshine is perfect for clubhouse maintenance

Members often say to us "it must be nice to get some rest over the winter months". The answer is definitely YES! However, you might be surprised at just how much work goes on here to get ready for the start of the season. Last summer, Stephen Harvey very kindly helped to measure up the dinghy park in order that we could improve the current parking situation. For

Popular Sundays make us very happy

Whilst this week's photo may look grey and wintery, the temperature continues to be mild and each week more spring bulbs are popping up.It is now less than one month until our first sailing event of 2024! The UK Wayfarer Association will be coming for a social sail on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd March. We will be serving breakfast in the clubhouse after sailing both days
