Lovely to see so many members

The weather here has warmed up a bit, with some lovely warm sunshine on Saturday and Monday afternoon. It's lovely to have members sailing in this week's photo (you may need to zoom in).

No matter the weather our members made sure that the first May bank holiday started with a bang. By that I mean that Captain Bayard of the BSSC Lusitania (our fictitious luxury ocean liner) was "shot dead" at the beginning of a fabulous murder mystery evening. Despite this early mishap our captain still enjoyed her buffet dinner and continued to mingle with guests as they scratched their heads and tried to work out who the murderer could be whist simultaneously bribing, pickpocketing and shooting each other. Photos are on our Facebook page, please do tag yourself and add your character's name. There will definitely be another Murder Mystery night coming to BSSC.

Very small tides this weekend meant that the cruiser fleet took time out from launching to have lunch together on Sunday. Milder weather encouraged more members to go out on the water and races for Handicap, Hawks and Cockles enjoyed a good turn out. Race officer training on Monday afternoon was very well attended and we will give more notice for the dates of upcoming training sessions. Results for this weekend are on the website.

Coronation Weekend

Saturday 6th May - Coronation Day:
We have racing at 7:30am for Handicap and Hawk fleets with Breakfast at 9am when we will also show live broadcasting of the Coronation procession as it builds to the main event in Westminster Abbey at 11am. Lunch will be available from 12 noon until 3pm and then dinner from 6pm until 9pm. The bar will remain open until 11pm if anyone would like to come for drinks after the beacon lighting on Barrow Common.

Sunday 7th May:
Races are scheduled for Hawk and Handicap fleets at 7:45am. Breakfast will be available from 9:15am, lunch from 12 noon until 3pm. The Commodore's Drinks and New Members evening replaces our usual dinner service. If you have received an invitation, please let us know by Wednesday 3rd if you plan to attend.

Monday 8th May:
Racing for the Handicap fleet begins at 07:45. Breakfast is available from 9:15am and lunch from 12 noon until 3pm. From 2pm we invite everyone to join "The Big Help" a litter pick along the coastal path. Bags and litter grabbers are available, we recommend you bring some stout gloves. Tea and cake will be offered in the clubhouse from 3pm for volunteers. We welcome all baked donations from scones, to cup cakes, granola bars, shortbread and fancy cakes.

How to get involved:
Please get in touch if you are able to assist with our Coronation weekend events. If you don't feel able to jump in and out of a safety boat, this is a great way to get involved with activities in the club. We would especially love to hear from volunteer bakers for this event. Please do get in touch via the_clubhouse@bssc.net or call 07747 597902

Dirk is cooking up some "Coronation Specials" along with the updated May menu. There will also be sweet and savoury bar snacks available all day. If you have any questions regarding special dietary requirements please do ask us when ordering your food.

As always, we recommend reserving a table in advance by email especially for large groups.

We do hope to see you all soon.
