Spring sunshine is perfect for clubhouse maintenance

Members often say to us "it must be nice to get some rest over the winter months". The answer is definitely YES! However, you might be surprised at just how much work goes on here to get ready for the start of the season.

Last summer, Stephen Harvey very kindly helped to measure up the dinghy park in order that we could improve the current parking situation. For example, a lot of tender owners in row B comment that it seems very over crowded. We discovered why (too many parking spaces allocated for that area) and intend to improve this type of situation across all dinghy parking zones. This will require a lot of shuffling to make sure we can accommodate everyone with an existing space and as many boats from the waiting list as possible. We cannot allocate new spaces until we know how many have been declined so prompt membership renewal really helps with this type of project.

The Sail Training team are already working on the schedule and logistics for 2024 courses. This year the application process and volunteer recruitment will be conducted through the members hub. You can now find information about dates and how to apply on our website.

We host many private events throughout the winter and were delighted to welcome the Burnhams Tennis club last Saturday for their annual dinner. We are very much looking forward to an 80th birthday party this Saturday. If you would like to host a private party, please do get in touch by email.

An enormous amount of maintenance goes on throughout the winter. The new balcony decking has been completed, repairs and winter maintenance are ongoing for all our safety boats and their moorings. The clubhouse fence has been rejuvenated and the tender has a brand new paint job - both completed by our amazing volunteers. All kitchen appliances get an annual overhaul, the fire alarm system and every fire extinguisher is professional checked and signed off, the lift has an annual service, the boiler has a service, carpets are professionally cleaned. We plan our launching supper and a la carte menu for the opening of the sailing season and consider menu options for the many social events over the summer months.

We never refuse offers of assistance in any of these endeavours, so if you have some free time and would like to help out, we'd love to hear from you.

Here are our opening times until the end of February:

It is the half term holiday for many schools next week so we anticipate a busy couple of weekends and recommend you book a table for Sunday lunch by email.
