The wind has finally shifted away from the North and temperatures have been slightly milder as a result. But wind strength incresed and definitly impacted sailing activities on Sunday and Monday.

Women on the Water

A Record number of participants - 20 Wowzers!

Saturday's WOW (Women on Water) sail was a fantastic afternoonsunny, breezy (Force 4), and full of energy. Laser 2ks, a Topper Argo, a Mirror, and two Toppers were out on the water, with plenty of smiles, laughter, and not a single capsize. The mid-section featured some speedy reach-to-reach sailing, perfecting our tacks, and plenty of leaning outgreat fun all round. A fun moment coming ashore under jib in a fast tide added a bit of extra excitement, followed by an exhilarating beat back to the harbourfor essential wine and unwind, of course. Huge thanks to everyone who took part, especially the safety crew for their heroic boat re-capture, and to Slug and Karen for pulling it all together. Can't wait for the next one! More photos are on our Instagram.

We had a lot of racing planned for the bank holiday but the wind picked up and made sailing conditions challenging. Five boats came out (along side the WoW team) for the Whitsun Regatta on Saturday, won by Magnus Medcalf. Three were racing on Sunday for the Hawk Whisun Challenge Bowl (won by Chris Spink and Stephen Harvey) and the start of the All-commers Summer points series. The Cockle beach picnic relocated to the clubhouse balcony, which turned out to be a much drier option, no blinis became waterlogged. Unfortunately only two came for the All-comers RNLI pennant race on Monday, sadly not enough for racing to go ahead. Well done everyone, you can find the full results on the website.

Swallows and Amazons will meet at BSSC on Thursday at 16:30 for low water fun and shenanigans. All juniors are welcome to come along.

On Friday 30th we have our first Teens on The Water session please contact Magnus on the Junior WhatsApp if you'd like to join in.

Dot Neal will be teaching a First aid course on Saturday 31st, so if you need to take the course, or if you are due a refresher please contact Dot directly by email.

The Cockle fleet will be hoping for third time lucky on Sunday 1st June when their First series race is scheduled, we do hope this wind calms down for them by then.

Clive Odell will be leading the Try a boat day on 29th June. Please save this date and do get in touch if there is a particular boat that you'd be interested in sailing or if you'd like to come along with your boat to take anyone out for a sail. More information on this will be available very soon.

Do watch out for Thursday's email with Windy.com forecast, race fixtures and menus for the weekend arriving to your inbox. We always recommend booking your table by email the_clubhouse@bssc.net to avoid disappointment.
