First Aid update

An update from BSSC's First Aid Coordinator, Fi Lambert.

Medical professionals, the first aid team and members of the club house team completed their RYA First Aid training last Tuesday and Wednesday evening. Despite soaring temperatures in the club house we all got involved and even had some fun, it was run by our very own experienced RYA First Aid instructor Charlie Parfitt. It was a brilliant, very informative, up to date and interactive training session.

Participants acted out injury scenarios and even played games involving the CPR sequence.

Everybody was proactive in joining in and gained so much from attending. So thank you Charlie for being an incredible teacher.

Other news on First Aid. We now have a public access, lockable, critical bleed cabinet outside the club house situated under the defib. The access code can be obtained in the same manner as the defib by calling 999 and giving out your location.

You will also notice that for open events, RTI, sailing week and sail training there will be a designated volunteer first aider /boat supporting the event to enable the safety boats and instructors to focus on their main roles. First Aiders will be wearing bright pink tabards saying First Aid, smiling, and on call to respond if required. Many thanks to my team of First Aid volunteers for covering all these events and we look forward to seeing you on the water.

And many thanks to you Fi, for everything you do behind the scenes to coordinate the First Aid team and resources. We are very lucky to have you!
