Jam packed bank holiday weekend

Before summarising a busy weekend at the Club I write to tell you that Dirk, the Chef who runs the Club kitchen, resigned last week. He will move to pastures new in the middle of June. We will be sorry to see him go and have started a recruitment campaign.

Because kitchen skills are hard to find we need to involve the whole membership network in finding his successor. The current role is year-round and salaried but we are open to other models of working if they suit the successful applicant. Obviously the Club is busier in the Summer and quieter in the Winter, but our wonderful clubhouse is a huge asset and we hope that the right team in the kitchen can really make something of it. If you know of anyone at all who might be interested in either the chef or sous-chef positions, please let us know.

New kids on the block ;)

Unfortunately, due to gusty conditions Swallows & Amazons had to postpone their first high water sailing session last Thursday.

Racers on Saturday had to get out of bed very early but there was a good turnout from the Hawk fleet who were led over the start line by Ben Stocks, Clive Odell stole the lead, and kept it for most of the race before getting pipped at the finish line by John Ellison.

Sharpie sailors competing in the British Championships at Wells had to get up even earlier. We don't have results yet, I'll let you know next week. Not every sailing venue can have a John Bellamy.

Sunday's Round the Island race was well supported. Congratulations to Malcolm and Catherine on their win.

Today's Hawk, Handicap and Cockle racing was also well attended.

Half Term activities: UPDATE!! This week Swallows and Amazons will meet at Brancaster Staithe on Thursday afternoon (BSSC Clubhouse will be open). We are excited to launch Teenagers on The Water on Friday at 11:30 If you are between 13 - 17 years old and interested in making new friends on the water and sailing in different types of boats, do please come along to our new TOW sessions. You'll need to sign up on the website in advance and numbers will be capped.

On Saturday and Sunday we will be holding the WH Loose Challenge Trophy, a series of 4 races for Hawks and there will be a Hawk dinner on Saturday night, please contact Clive Odell directly to book the dinner.
