Fabulous conditions for Women on the Water

First I must apologise for last week's error. Will Gibbs won the Lester Southerland Tiller last weekend with his crew Charlie Orton. Sam Neal and Marcus Flint came 2nd with Chris Gibbs and Sam Moore 3rd.

WoW

Our first Women on the Water meeting this Saturday couldn't have been more perfect. Four boats, ten sailors, three supportive gents and one fabulous box of brownies. In a light northerly wind and a little sunshine, we enjoyed the luxury of a tow to line bouy and then made our way up to Nod. After a break on the marsh for tea and brownies we practiced "elegant" on-shore-wind landing (with mixed success) however, the slightly dodgy dress rehearsal proved extremely useful on arrival back at the hard. Of course, all successes were enthusiastically celebrated in the bar after. The next meeting will be Saturday 20th July. Please sign up online if you'd like to join in the fun. All abilities are equally welcome and it's brilliant to have a mix of confident helms to go with novice / nervous sailors.

The National Coastwatch Institution now have a live webcam and have kindly provided this link if you'd like to see current sea conditions. You can also check out the wind conditions on the Davis Weather link App, just look for NCI Brancaster.

There is plenty going on next weekend, however we have a lot of unfilled volunteer slots. Please check the Duty roster and sign up to help in any way you can. All members should volunteer at least once a year (if physically able). We would love to find an additional support boat for the 1st round the island race on Sunday and there are also crew, helm and race officer positions to fill on Saturday morning. Please arrive one and a quarter hours before the race start and meet the race officer and other volunteers.
