It's getting busy here :)

We had some wonderful rain this week (enough to half fill at least one garden water butt). Unfortunately the wind got up a bit too much making it unsafe for the Cockles to sail this weekend. Excessive wind didn't stop the fleet from joining up with Cockle sailors from Morston for a fantastic dinner on Saturday evening. The Air Ambulance race did go ahead on Saturday and Simon Sanderson joined in on his wing-foil. Results will be on the websitesoon. Now, how to get Simon a PY number?

Sailing Week 2023:

We are really pleased with how the ticket sales rolled out (with only some minor hitches) this week. If you are attempting to purchase a ticket (use this link) and don't see the boat you wish to sail in the drop down box, please email us and we can fix it very easily. Once we have this information, you will be able to book future tickets without needing to contact us. If you have any issues purchasing your ticket, please email the_clubhouse @bssc.net or call us on 07747 597 902.

All ticket types are now on sale including tickets for the Sailing Week Hog Roast, BBQ and Summer Party. We are delighted to announce that this years' Summer Party will be very relaxed, with a cold buffet from 18:30 and The Nod playing two sets from 20:00 until 22:00.

As we get busier: We have been asked to remind all members that the speed restricted area in the harbour extends well past the end of the morning area. A 6 knot speed limit should be observed by all harbour users until they have passed "East" buoy. Please refer to your harbour map inside the front cover of the handbook.

The Brancaster Parking Group have asked all local Clubs and Harbour users to pass on the following message:
As we enter summer and the busiest time of the year in the harbour, parking can, on occasion become an issue and has been a hot topic of conversation over the last few years. In order to help improve the situation we politely ask the following:
- Please park sensibly and properly. Park as close to the vehicle next to you as is reasonable to ensure we get as many cars in parking spaces as possible.
- If you are parking on pavements, please ensure that you leave enough space for wheelchair users and pushchairs/prams to be able to pass your car without being forced into the road.
- Please do not block driveways, access or junctions, or in anyway that can impede traffic or cause dangerous situations. Remember that emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines are often wider than the average car.
- Please do not move or remove any no parking cones.
Everyone is welcome to Brancaster Staithe harbour and some small steps taken by all of us can help to alleviate some parking pressures during the peak summer period.

Swallows and Amazons met at Burnham Overy Staithe again last Thursday evening. This week they will meet at BSSC. Children of all ages are welcome, if you'd like to join in please contact Rosie Newport. The clubhouse will be open for a limited a la carte dinner service until 21:00 for all members on Thursday evening.

Next weekend we hold the Kendle Cup Island Race (briefing 08:15) raising funds for National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) Brancaster. A representative from NCI will be joining us in the committee boat and also for breakfast in the clubhouse (from 10:45) after the race. Tickets can be purchased on the day by cash or credit / debit card or in advance via the website. If you wish to make a donation, please feel free to purchase a ticket (or multiple tickets) even if you don't intend to race. 100% of the ticket price will go to the NCI Brancaster.
