Winter has arrived!

We woke up to blue skies, sunshine and temperatures close to freezing. Last week's charity bridge tournament, which has been organised by Liz How for the past few years was held in the clubhouse on Tuesday. The event raised a very impressive £2045 for Tapping House Norfolk Hospice.

Many thanks to everyone who removed their boats from the dinghy park so promptly this year. We really do appreciate your attention in this matter. There are still three kayaks and two SUPs in the rack. If these belong to you, please take them to your winter storage as soon as possible.

We'd like to give a warm welcome and introduce you to BSSC's new Commodore and vice Commodore:

Sarah Kemp took over as Commodore of BSSC at the AGM on November 2nd. Sarah grew up sailing on the Norfolk Broads and her family joined BSSC over 40 years ago. A keen dinghy racer Sarah helms a 2K with her patient husband Bruce and can also be seen in the front of a Sharpie (rarely), pootling around the harbour in a Cornish Shrimper, teaching sailing, encouraging Women on the Water and failing to paddleboard gracefully. Any excuse to get out there.

Sarah has chaired the Sailing Committee for the last 2 years and will continue to do so for the next 2. Sarah is keen to encourage and support members to get on the water more and enjoy this beautiful harbour

Away from the club Sarah enjoys other types of sailing including team racing, keel boat racing and volunteering with Blind Sailing UK.

James Watson became Vice Commodore of BSSC at the AGM and has sat on the General Committee and Sailing Committees for several years. He chairs our House and Social Committees.

He has been a member of the club for five years and has ably run the last three Sailing Week's with his wife Caroline. James sails Lasers and 2Ks to a (self-confessed) pretty average standard but loves being on the water on paddle boards and kayaks and his own power boat. He is also a qualified Safety Boat helm and regularly helps on Safety Boats during the season's racing. James and Caroline live near Holt in Norfolk and have three children who all sail at the Club.

Keith and Alex will be away from tomorrow, Tuesday 19th November and will be back to work on Friday 6th December. The clubhouse will remain open for Sunday lunches and bookings for 24th November and 1st December should be made by emailing the_clubhouse@bssc.net. Yasmin will respond by email to these lunch booking requests, all other enquiries will be attended to when we return.

Opening times: in response to requests for a weekend supper service, we will be trialling a Saturday night opening with a la carte menus (which will be published on Mondays). Please book your table by email if possible.
