Sail Training 2026 » RYA Stage 4 (3 day course, exact dates TBC)

2nd - 8 August

Sail a double handed boat as crew or helm, and solve a variety of problems afloat.

Assumed knowledge: we recommend applicants complete Start Racing and Improve Your Racing before applying to do Stage 4 as they will be sailing Laser 2000s or RS Fevas which suit older, stronger and more experienced sailors. We also expect further sailing experience to be undertaken in between courses. Please be prepared to show evidence of experience in log books, if requested.

Course Duration: 3 days

Recommended minimum age: 14 years as of the course start date

Course content: Rigging, launching and recovery, sailing techniques and manoeuvres in crewed boats, recovering a man overboard

Ability after course: Can launch and return to a beach, jetty or mooring, and sail a crewed dinghy around a triangle in moderate conditions

Boats: We hope to source Fevas, to be provided by Sail Training.

As ever, we rely on both those generous enough to volunteer their time and loan their boats (Toppers, Wayfarers, Fevas and RS 2000s/L2Ks) to Sail Training. All families of applicants are expected to offer some time, which is captured in this application form. We will try to confirm volunteer duties in early July if not before.
