VOLUNTEER ROLES 2025
Sharpie Europeans 2025
1. Hard Heros
We will need 6 or 7 fit and able volunteers to act as hard marshals launching boats, managing trailers and assisting with landing and recovery at the end of each tide.

2. House Elves
Your Clubhouse team will be working really hard to serve breakfast lunch and dinner, as well delivering a lot of large social events. If you would like to help them out, we need some “House Elves”. For about an hour after sailing each day. A little help to clean and set furniture in the clubhouse and marquee will make a big difference for both weeks.

Sailing Week 2025
1. Safety Boats
We will need approximately 6-8 Sea Fleet safety boats each day. Again, these should be bigger boats (RIBs, etc) that are comfortable out at sea.
We will also need approximately 8-10 Harbour Fleet safety boats. These can be smaller boats as they will stay in the Harbour and generally have a more civilised time of it! Driving or crewing a Harbour safety boat is a great way to be involved in SW, learn about racing or improve your power boating skills!
Safety Boat Crew
Safety boat drivers often rely on us to supply their crew. This job is great fun! Slots often fill up quickly so get your name down ASAP if you want to crew! First come, first served.
To crew a Harbour Fleet boat you need to be aged 14 or over, and for the Sea Fleet 16 or over. Crew do not need to have done any courses, although for the Sea Fleet prior experience of crewing a safety boat is preferable and you need to be fit and able.
2. Onshore Support
Race Week 2025
Hut – we need at least 5 people to do this job each day. This is a great way to learn how racing works and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t done it before. There may be coffee and cake involved…
Hard Marshalls – at least 3 of these are needed each day, sometimes more. This involves wearing a High-Vis (you know you want to!), assisting the racers on and off the water, cheering up bedraggled children, bossing the public around and hopefully relaxing with tea and biscuits in between the action.
First Aid – we need a First Aid Chief each day. There are a few members who have done basic first aid, but if you know a bit more than that (e.g. former nurse/doctor/junior doctor/paramedic, etc) then we would be very grateful if you could volunteer as First Aid Chief. This role can be combined with another role, but if something happens you need to be accessible (e.g. you can’t really be First Aid Chief if you are helping the Sea Fleet or are racing in any fleet).
