Amazing Summer

What an August it has been!

The Sail Training team did an incredible job, as always. Starting way back in the winter with the application process, then the 1st aid and DI courses in the spring, right the way through to organising safety cover, volunteer rosters and, once again, acing the RYA inspection.

Our first ever WoW summer camp was great success, despite the weather preventing any sailing. Yoga, knot tying and bite size sailing and engine presentations cemented existing friendships and introduced new Wowzers to our already strong cohort of wonderful women supporting each other both on and off the water.

The Laser 3000 Nationals was actually our 3rd two day open event of 2025. Once again BSSC was able to show a wider audience of competitive sailors what our exciting and challenging harbour has to offer.

As promised, the 2025 Sharpie European Championship had to be seen to be believed. The spectacle of 48 classic wooden boats at sea and the serious partying over 6 days was an extraordinary feat of organisation not only at BSSC on and off the water but also at the campsite. It was wonderful to hear stories spanning several generations of sailors and to witness new friendships being forged.

The sailing week team also did a terrific job. Having been out in safety boats for the Sharpies over the previous six days, they came off the water on the final day of racing and got going immediately with the sailing week set up. New to these roles, they managed to keep one step ahead of all the very many things needed to make the week run smoothly.

This weekend, The Nod made our sellout party a stupendous success and last night our quiz organisers set the perfect tone for a final social get together in the marquee.

There are far too many members to name here, who have stepped up to the enormous task of organising these huge events. To everyone who volunteered, to organise, teach, officiate races, drive or crew a safety boat, record race results, fix broken boats, provide 1st aid cover, assist in launching and recovery on the hard, sell tickets, serve food, vacuum the carpet, decorate the marquee and a thousand other things, you have made August 2025 EXCEPTIONAL!

But it's not over yet!

The clubhouse will be open every day this week, for breakfast after sailing, lunch and dinner.

Club racing continues next weekend with the Borthwick Challenge cup and the start of Autumn series for Hawks and All-comers.

We hope for a great turnout at the autumn mini regatta on 13th & 14th September. This will be open to all fleets.

Please put a date in your diary for the AGM, prizegiving and laying up party on October 25th. We will be going with a fun filled Oktoberfest theme. Prizes will be awarded to the best lederhosen and dirndl outfits
