Construction sites are dangerous…..and yet despite this obvious message we have been plagued with club members assuming the right to wander onto the site ….or even worse climb over fences, or access via neighbours property to just have a look around.
We have already had the police called out twice. The site , and the site insurances are in the total control of Geoff and Steve of Mode Construction…that’s legislation….its law…..and its common sense. Please do not attempt to visit the site without an accompanied invitation.
And so ends the lecture…..the building works are proceeding at an incredible pace, and subject only to a few programme risk items we still look set to complete early May….that’s a staggering 15 months from getting Planning Approval, and 8 months from when we moved out at the end of last season. This is fantastic credit to our fundraising team, our architects, engineers, and most importantly Geoff and Steve and their tight knit group of subcontract trades.
Over the next 6 weeks we have to finish tiling, floor finishes , external doors, electrics, lighting, plumbing, heating, glazing, decking, painting , decorating, fire alarms, kitchen fitting including walk in cold store and cooker extract systems, bar fitting, changing room fit out, painting , cellar cooling system, joinery, external works, …..then there’s Building Control, licencing, environmental sign off , Fire and flood risk assessments & strategies…..then commissioning……and more. So we are nowhere near finished yet…..please do not hinder the great progress to date.
From the outside it is stunning….from the inside it is even better, but please wait until May to fully appreciate what we as a club have achieved.
And don’t forget, for all we are doing in the clubhouse, quietly out there on the water Stephen Harvey, Chris Spink, Malcolm Collins and Jim Herc have been out in the cold commissioning the rescue boats, and putting out the racing bouys ready for what it’s all about……sailing and using the water.
